A Fight For Life

I've watched my mother fight breast cancer since September of 2003. I made her my number one priority, even above my schooling. Six months of watching her get sick from the cure, we recieved good news that she was in remission. We rejoiced and praised. A couple years have gone by, and now we're back, fighting this same sickness, only this time the cancer has moved to her lungs. Six weeks of treatment so far, looks like its heading to 6 months now, but its harder on me this time around than before. My mother is fine, relaxed, and content with the way things are for now. I look at her with so much pride and respect. She is my hero for the way she fights to beat this thing. I cry because I fear the future, but she tells me that the future is a lie, and we can only live in the present. She's a wise woman, and I would be proud to be a mother like her.


Its now 2008, she is no longer on any Chemo but she is on a wonder drug called herceptin that is keeping her cancer at bay. She will remain on this drug till the day it no longer does what its supposed to do, or god willing, they find a cure.

This is my tribute to my hero, my mother.
